Real Estate Closings for Attorneys
This class has been submitted for approval for four hours of CLE credit by the Alabama State Bar and for CEU by Auburn University. Speakers will include Ben Hand, Walter Northcutt, George Blake III, and Howard Donovan. The program will be held at the Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center. Cost of the program is $120 by April 25, and $140 thereafter. This fee includes instruction, materials, and refreshments.

Attorney Renewal CLE - Variety of Topics
This course has been approved by the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education Commission of Alabama for a maximum of 6 hours credit, including one hour of ethics. Speakers will include Michael Short, Jeff Tickal, Russell Balch, Robbie Treese, and Robert Lusk. The program will be held at the Auburn University Hotel and Conference Center. Cost of the program is $175 by December 7, and $205 thereafter. This fee includes instruction, materials, refreshments, lunch at Arricia, and CLE reporting.

REAL ESTATE LAW: Condominium and Planned Community Practice
On Friday, March 9, the Auburn University CLE Program will present a full-day seminar on topics related to Real Estate Law. Carol H. Stewart and Melinda M. Eubanks of Burr and Forman LLP will teach all sessions; the topics will include “Overview of Condominium Law in Alabama,” “Drafting Condominium and Planned Community Documents,” and “Special Issues in Drafting Documents,” “Management of Common Interest Community Associations”, and much more. The program is intended to benefit attorneys, but real estate and construction professionals may qualify for 3 CPE credits for the morning portion of the program. The full program can qualify attorneys for 6 hours of credit with the Alabama State Bar Association and /or Georgia State Bar Association. Cost of the program is $200 for the full-day seminar or $135 for a half-day seminar. The fee covers instruction, materials, refreshments, and lunch. The seminar will be held in the conference room of the Jefferson State Community College-Shelby Campus in the Richard M. Scrushy Hall. Register before February 23 and pay only $170 for the full-day seminar or $105 for the half-day seminar. Add $30 if filing with GA State Bar Association.

SEXUAL ASSAULT: A PROSECUTOR’S PERSPECTIVE
On November 16 and 17, ACAR (Alabama Coalition Against Rape), in coordination with the Auburn University Outreach Program Office, is sponsoring a training session designed especially for prosecutors. The presentations will address barriers and legal challenges in the prosecution of sexually motivated crimes. Training sessions will explore how a team approach can improve prosecution of sex crimes in the criminal justice system.
Application has been made for attorneys successfully completing all sessions to be awarded 11 hours of CLE credit by the Alabama State Bar Association and nurses completing all sessions to be awarded 3 CEU’s. The conference registration fee is $50. The conference fee covers instruction, materials, breaks, and CLE credit reporting.

REAL ESTATE LAW FROM RENT TO OWN
On Friday, November 10, the Auburn University CLE Program will present a full-day seminar on topics related to Real Estate Law. Melinda Eubanks will teach the morning session; the topics will include “Overview of Condominium Law in Alabama,” “Drafting Condominium and Planned Community Documents,” and “Special Issues in Drafting Documents.” The afternoon session will include Marrell McNeal’s one-hour presentation on the “Uniform Residential Landlord and Tenant Act” and a two-hour presentation by Ben Hand on “Construction Law”. The program is intended to benefit attorneys, but real estate professionals may qualify for 3 CPE credits for the morning portion of the program. The full program can qualify attorneys for 6 hours of credit with either the Alabama or Georgia State Bar Association [Note: An additional filing fee of $5 per CLE unit is required for those seeking credit with the Georgia State Bar]. Cost of the program is $195.00 for the full-day seminar or $129 for a half-day seminar. The fee covers instruction, materials, refreshments, and lunch. The seminar will be held in the conference room of the Auburn Chamber of Commerce/A-O Convention & Visitors Bureau building on Glenn Avenue (near Glenn-Dean Shopping Center). Register before October 31 and pay only $165.00 for the full-day seminar or $99 for the half-day seminar.

THINK GLOBALLY, SERVE LOCALLY:
REPRESENTING THE NON-ENGLISH SPEAKER AND IMMIGRATION LAWS
On Friday, September 22, the Auburn University CLE program presented a seminar on topics related to thinking globally while serving locally, plus an hour of ethics. Judge Aubrey Ford of Macon County started the program at 1:00 with a presentation on how to serve as counsel for a non-English speaking client. Amy Myers of Bradley, Arant, Rose, and White of Birmingham followed with a presentation on immigration for the non-immigration lawyer. (Ms. Myers work on this topic was recently featured in The Alabama Lawyer). Robbie Lusk of the Alabama State Bar Association ended our seminar with his informative and entertaining presentation on attorney ethics. The program qualified participants for up to 3 hours of credit with either the Alabama or Georgia state bar association.

GETTING DOWN TO BUSINESS: TOPICS IN EMPLOYMENT LAW
The Auburn University Outreach Program Office presents "Getting Down to Business: Topics in Employment Law" as part of its ongoing Seminar Opportunities for Attorney Renewal program. This program will provide participants with 3 hours of continuing legal education as approved by the state bars of both Alabama and Georgia, as well as .3 continuing education units through Auburn University Outreach. Sandra Speakman, of the Legal Division of the State Personnel Department in Montgomery, will present on Title VII (Discrimination); Scott Crouse, of the firm of Raymond Jackson in Auburn, will present on the Taxation of Litigation Proceeds; and Raymond Jackson, of Raymond Jackson in Auburn, will present on Recent Developments in Employment Law for Alabama and Georgia Attorneys.
