| The Governmental Excellence and Best Practices conference was first held in Montgomery, Alabama in May 2003. The most recently held conference, Advancing Excellence and Public Trust in Government was held in our nation’s capital, Washington D.C., at the National Press Club, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Public Trust and The Washington Center. The 2009 conference will build on that foundation to further develop a practical understanding of appropriate governmental transparency. |
The 2007 national symposium in Washington, D.C. provided a dialogue on approaches that governmental entities can use to develop processes that will provide more in-depth insight into their decision making related to the issue of governmetnal tranparency. The symposium was built upon the thesis that public trust increases when elected and appointed officials adopt processes designed to appropriately dialogue with constituents and provide insight on critical issues affecting their interest and needs. Governments were challenged to cultivate approaches for increased accountability to the general public. |
