Greg Niel is the State Coordinator for Veterans Employment Services provided by the Alabama Department of Labor through the statewide system of Alabama Career Centers. Greg managed veterans’ employment services and programs in Alabama since 1992, and is responsible for the integrity, efficiency, and performance of Federal grants from the US Department of Labor’s Veterans Employment and Training Service. With oversight for veterans’ employment services provided through Alabama’s Career Centers, Greg functionally supervises thirty Disabled Veteran Specialists and Local Veterans Representatives who provide employment services to veterans, separating military service members, and eligible spouses.
Greg was instrumental in coordinating inter-agency resources in development of an initiative to improve job placement for seriously disabled and combat injured veterans that was adopted and jointly implemented by the US Department of Veterans Affairs’ Vocational Rehabilitation and Employment agency and the US Department of Labor as a national model for providing employment services to disabled veterans undergoing rehabilitation and vocational retraining.
Greg served in the US Navy and is a Disabled Vietnam Veteran. Greg has a Bachelor of Science degree from Troy University. He currently serves on the Veterans Affairs Committee for the National Association of State Workforce Agencies in Washington, DC.
