Browser Settings - Troubleshooting
Your current security settings prohibit running Active X controls

 

Issue:

 

Users that have special settings on their LAN setup or are accessing the Internet behind firewalls can run into problems with WebCT displaying properly.

 

Solution:

 

To check your LAN settings, follow these steps:

  1. Open Internet Explorer.

  2. Click on "Tools > Internet Options" from the top menu.

  3. Click the "Connections" tab.

  4. Click the "LAN Settings" button.

  5. All the items that appear on the screen should be unchecked.

  6. Once finished, click the "OK" button.

Firewalls:

If you are accessing WebCT from behind a firewall (ex. corporate office, military base, etc.), you may need to speak with the network administrator from that company or organization about allowing access to these sites.

 

If you have set up a personal firewall, either with Windows XP, software, or hardware (router) and you are having trouble viewing WebCT, please contact the OIT HelpDesk and they will assist you in targeting the setting changes that you will need to make.
