Recommended Internet Browsers

OIT recommends the following browsers for use with applications provided by Auburn University.

OIT strives to make all web applications compatible with many of the full-featured browsers that are currently available for download. However, the recommended browsers are the only browsers that are guaranteed to work properly.

Safe Browsing Habits
  • Do not download freeware or shareware because these programs often contain spyware or malware applications.

  • Do not click on links or buttons in pop-up advertisement windows because:
    • Spyware can be installed this way.
    • Worms and other malware can be installed this way.
    • Your browser can be hijacked this way.

  • Do not give out personal information or e-mail addresses unless you are sure the web site is legitimate.

  • Do not give out personal information or primary e-mail addresses when downloading software from the Web.

What version of my browser am I using?

Windows Users

  1. Click "Help" in the Standard Toolbar.
  2. Click "About" which typically is followed by the name of the application.
  3. The version number should be listed there.

Mac Users

  1. Click the name of the application on the top left corner.
  2. Click "About".
  3. The version number should be listed there.
