The Office of Information Technology is continuing its work to provide a more secure university network this month by instituting a fundamental change in how data is allowed to travel through the border of the university network. This change will not affect your ability to connect to outside services or websites, but it will prevent unwanted inbound connection to University servers, desktops, printers, and other devices on the network.
On June 15th, a “default deny” policy will restrict the transmission of data over web protocols and web ports to only servers that have been registered by June 10th. On June 30th, a “default deny” policy will restrict the transmission of data through all other ports managed by the network firewall to only servers that have been registered by June 25th. If you have any questions about these changes or the registration of servers process, please contact your IT Provider or email@example.com.
