Connectivity to online resources has become unstable due to a network firewall failure. The Office of Information Technology is working with support personnel, specialists, and engineers from the manufacturers to alleviate the situation. Availability of online resources is likely to fluctuate until this problem is resolved.
On-campus users may have difficulty connecting to AU_WiFi and loading websites outside the campus network, including Canvas. Off-campus users may have difficulty loading university resources such as TigerMail and AU Access and resources normally reached through AU Access. If you are off-campus, you can access Canvas directly at http://auburn.instructure.com. Students can access TigerMail Live directly at http://outlook.com/tigermail.auburn.edu (remember to login with email@example.com).
UPDATE: April 25th @ 1:25 P.M.
The new border firewall hardware has been installed and configured. We are working with our vendor to get the new firewall introduced into the network.
UPDATE: April 25th @ 2:11 P.M.
Integrating the new hardware brought down access to the wireless network and access for county offices. We have reverted back to the old hardware and are working to repair the impacted connections. The plan is to try bringing the new hardware online again after the close of business this afternoon.

The new firewall is online and integrated into the network. The connectivity issues with AU_WiFi have also been resolved. Palo Alto, our vendor, would like us to do some software updates; however, since the system is stable at this point we are going to postpone these updates until after final exams. In the meantime, we will continue to monitor the situation closely.

Internet connectivity is down again. We understand this is the worst timing. We're working with the vendors to get it back up ASAP.

Connectivity to online resources and AU_WiFi has been stabilized; however, we will continue to monitor the situation closely. The following email is being sent to all Auburn University students:
Auburn University Students,
As most of you are very well aware, the University network has been unreliable this week. We understand this has come at the worst possible time as you are wrapping up your classes for the semester and preparing for final exams. The problems that you have been experiencing with internet connectivity and availability of online resources is the result of failures in the network hardware and software. The Office of Information Technology is working closely with vendors to restore these services.
As developments are made, we will continue to post updates on the OIT Homepage, Twitter (@AuburnOIT) and Facebook.
UPDATE: April 26th @ 8:44 P.M.
Over the last couple of hours we received multiple reports of intermittent connectivity issues and some users reporting they could only access Auburn websites. Our specialists have identified the problem and these issues should be cleared up.
UPDATE: April 28th @ 4:15 P.M.
Emergency updates will be made to the network tonight at 11:00 P.M. On-campus users may experience a brief network outage.

Connectivity to online resources and AU_WiFi was not affected by the network updates; however, we will continue to monitor the situation closely.
