October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month

October is National Cyber Security Awareness Month. No individual, business, or government entity is solely responsible for securing the Internet. Everyone has a role in securing their part of cyberspace, including the devices and networks they use. Each week OIT will be promoting a certain aspect of cyber security. Week 1: Beware of Phishing Scams Phishing email messages, websites, and phone calls are designed to steal money or information. Cybercriminals can do this by installing malicious software on your computer or stealing personal information off of your computer. Cybercriminals also use social engineering to convince you to install malicious software or hand over your personal information under false pretenses. They might email you, call you on the phone, or convince you to download something off of a website. Learn more at: http://keepitsafe.auburn.edu
