I get an error when trying to setup drive mapping in Windows 95/98/2000

Issue:

I when I trying to setup drive mapping on my on-campus computer running Windows 9x, I received an error.

Solution:

If you received a message that read "The network name is either incorrect, or on a network to which you do not have full access", do the following:

  1. Right-click Network Neighborhood.

  2. Select Properties.

  3. Hit the Protocol tab.

  4. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.

  5. Under the WINS configuration tab, check the "Enable WINS Resolution" box and enter "131.204.2.6" as the Primary WINS Server and "131.204.2.7" as the Secondary WINS Server.

  6. Under the DNS tab, check the "Enable DNS" box. In the Host field, type your AU User Name. In the "DNS Server Search Order" fields, add "131.204.41.3" and "131.204.2.10". In the "Domain Suffix Search Order" fields, add "duc.auburn.edu" and "auburn.edu".

  7. Save your configuration changes, reboot your computer, and then try the drive mapping procedure again.

If you recieved the message that looks like the below, you did not reboot your computer after applying the registry patch for Windows 95/98. Reboot your computer to fix the problem.
