I get an error when trying to setup drive mapping in Windows XP

 

Issue:

 

I when I trying to setup drive mapping on my on-campus computer, I received an error that read "The network name is either incorrect, or on a network to which you do not have full access".

 

Solution:

  1. Right-click My Network Places.

  2. Select Properties.

  3. Double-click Local Area Connection.

  4. Windows XP only: Click Properties button again.

  5. Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button.

  6. Select the Use the following IP address option and enter the DNS server addresses like you see them below:

  7. Click the Advanced button.

  8. Make sure your window looks like the above. If your computer is in a dfferent domain such as "cob", "eng" or "vetmed", it is important that the DNS suffix "duc.auburn.edu" is added.

  9. Click the WINS tab and make sure that the Primary server is "131.204.2.6" and the Secondary server is "131.204.2.7".

  10. Click OK three times and click Close to exit the Network and Dial-Up Connections window.
