Determine what version of Windows you have

Task:

Is there a quick and easy way to determine the version of Windows that I'm using, including service packs?

How to do it:

The solution is a one word command line.

Follow these steps:

  1. From your taskbar, click on Start > Run.

  2. In the Run dialog box, type "winver" and click on OK.

  3. A window will appear that will show the exact version of Windows you are running, plus which service packs, if any, are installed. The window also displays who the copy of Windows is registered to and also the physical memory.
