Renaming the Administrator account in Windows XP
Task:
To rename the Administrator account in Windows XP
How to do it:
- Click the Windows Start button and choose "Control Panel".
- Click the "User Accounts" icon.
- Click "Change an Account" from the Pick a Task... submenu.
- Click the "Administrator" icon.
- Choose "Change my name".
- Enter a new name for the account. We recommend using your global id
as the new name.
- Click the "Change Name" button to save your changes.
- If you have not been using a password to log on to Your Windows XP
computer, click the back button and choose "Change my password".
- Enter a strong password in the dialog box that appears.
DO NOT FORGET THIS PASSWORD! If you forget the Administrator password it may result in data loss and re-installation of the operating system.
- Click the "Change Password" button to save your changes.
