Different folder views in Windows XP
Task:
I would like to change the way files are displayed in a folder.
How to do it:
The view options for icons are in each folder windows toolbar and vary depending on the contents of each folder. All folders are capable of being viewed in tiles or icons in a detailed or less detailed view. Folders with graphics (such as .jpg, .gif, etc.) in the My Pictures folder and subfolders can be viewed as thumbnails or slideshows as well as any of the other views.
Follow these steps:
- Open the folder that you wish to change the view of.
- Right-click on any blank space and point to View.
- Here is a description of the options avaiable:
- Details - displays a list of files or folders along with their properties.
- Filmstrip - displays the currently selected picture at the top of the window above a single row of smaller versions of all the pictures in the current folder. (Available only for the My Pictures folder and its subfolders.)
- Icons - displays the icon and file name for each file or folder.
- List - displays a list of the files and folders with no additional information other than the file name and a small icon.
- Thumbnails - displays, on top of each folder, up to four miniature representations of the files contained in each folder.
- Tiles - displays a large file type icon or folder icon, the file/folder name, and up to two additional pieces of information (varies depending on file type) for each file in the folder.
