Disabling print shares
Task:
To disable print shares in Windows operating systems.
How to do it:
Allowing other users to access a printer attached to your computer can also make it possible for unauthorized people to access your computer and damage files or the operating system. Since Printer sharing represents a computer security threat, we recommend that local printers not be shared and any current Printer shares be disabled.
To disable existing print shares:
- Click the Windows Start button and choose "Settings".
- Locate and click on the "Printers" folder.
- Locate a shared printer. (printer icon with a hand under it)

- Right-click on the shared printer icon and choose "Sharing"
from the menu that appears.

- Click the "Sharing" tab on the Printer Properties dialog
box.

- Click the radio button labeled "Not Shared" from the Printer
Properties dialog box to disable printer sharing for this printer.
- Click the "Apply" button to save your changes and click the "OK" button to close the dialog box.
