Changing Windows XP to the classic look
Task:
I don't like the new look of Windows XP.
How to do it:
Since XP has a radically different look from previous Windows versions, some people prefer to change the overall look and feel back to the more familiar Windows look of the past.
Follow these steps:
- To change the Windows XP appearance, right-click
anywhere on the computer desktop with all programs closed or minimized.
- Select Properties from the options menu.
- Select the Appearance tab.

- From the Windows and buttons drop down list, select "Windows
Classic style". You may also wish to select "Windows Classic"
from the Color scheme drop down list.
- Click OK to save your settings.
- The Windows XP Control Panel has also changed. If
you'd like to change it back to the Windows Classic view, click on Start > Control Panel.

- Click on Switch to Classic View. Close the Control Panel
when finished.
- The Windows XP Start Menu has also changed. If you'd
like to change it back to the Windows classic view, click Start.
- Right-click on any blank space on the Start Menu and select Properties.
- Select the Classic Startup menu option and click OK to save your settings.
