Meridian 9316 Reference Guide
PROGRAMMING YOUR PHONE
- With the handset in the cradle, press SAVE.
- Press the AutoDial button you are programming.
- Dial the telephone number or feature code exactly as you would normally dial it (4-XXXX or 9-XXX-XXXX).
- Press SAVE a second time.
- Follow the instructions on the digital display to assign a name to the AutoDial button.
OR, press SAVE a third time.
AUTODIAL buttons must be programmed by the user. |
AutoDial
- Program
the AUTODIAL buttons following the instructions above.
- Lift the handset and press the programmed AUTODIAL button.
Call Forward
*71 to activate
#71
to cancel
- Lift the handset and dial *71.
- After tone, dial the number you wish to forward your calls
to and hang up. (Calls can be forwarded to on-campus extensions
only.)
To cancel: Lift the handset and dial #71.
TIP: For convenience, program this feature to an AUTODIAL button.
Calling Number Delivery Blocking
*67
� Dial *67, then place your call.
TIP: You must follow the directions each time you wish to block your number. If the party you are calling has Anonymous Call Rejection your call will not go through.
Hold
- With the caller on the line, press HOLD.
- To return to the caller, press the line button (the line
the caller is on).
Last
Number Redial
- Lift the handset and press the REDIAL button or ##.
Transfer/Three
Way Call
- With the caller on the line, press LINK.
- After you hear dial tone, dial the number.
- After you hear a ring, hang up.
OR, wait until the party answers, announce the caller, then press
RLS to hang up.
OR, announce you would like to conference call, then press LINK
a second time to connect all three parties.
Two
Line Conference
- Dial the first party on Line 1.
- After they answer, press CONFERENCE.
- Select Line 2 and dial the second party.
- After they answer, press CONFERENCE to join all three lines.
Call
Pickup
*73
- Lift the handset and dial *73.
- You will intercept a call coming into another phone in your
Call Pickup Group.
TIP: If more than one line in the group is ringing, you will intercept the one that began to ring first.
Note: This feature must be set up through the OIT HelpDesk.
Distinctive
Ring
*61
TO ACTIVATE/DEACTIVATE Distinctive Ring:
- Dial *61.
- Listen for message to know whether Distinctive Ring is on
or off.
- If off, press 3 to turn it on. If on, press 3 to turn it
off.
TO ADD specific numbers to your list:
- Press *61.
- Press # and wait for the tone.
Dial the selected number.
- Press #.
- Wait 4 seconds and hang up.
TO REMOVE specific numbers from your list:
- Dial *61.
- Press #, and wait for the tone.
- Dial the selected number.
- Press #, wait 4 seconds, hang up.
TO ADD THE LAST incoming call to your list:
- After call, hang up and listen for dial tone.
- Press *61.
- Press #01#.
- Wait 4 seconds and hang up.
TIP: Distinctive Ring also works on long distance calls (where technologically possible.)
If you have call waiting, you can identify calls by the short/long/short tone.
Intercom
- Pick up the handset and press the button marked Intercom (I/C) or
Group Intercom (GIC).
- Dial the two-digit intercom number.
Ring Again

- After getting busy signal, hang up.
- Lift handset & dial *75.
- Wait for the recording, then hang up.
- Repeat Dialing will monitor the line for 30 minutes.
- A distinctive ring lets you know when the line you were calling
is free.
TO CANCEL Repeat Dialing
- Dial #75.
- Repeat dialing will cancel automatically after 30 minutes.
TIP: Repeat Dialing can monitor more than one line at a time.
This will not work for telephone registration.
Return
Call
*69 to activate
*89
to cancel
- Lift the handset and listen for dial tone.
- Press *69. An automated voice will give the number of the
last call received if it is not private.
- To call that number press 1. The call is made automatically.
If the number is busy the feature will monitor the line for up to
30 minutes and signal with a distinctive ring when the line is free.
To cancel *89
- Lift handset and listen for dial tone.
- Press *89.
- Return call will deactivate automatically if you do not receive
a distinctive ring within 30 minutes.
Speed
Call (Program Long, Program Short)

Note: Feature must be set up through the OIT HelpDesk.
TO PROGRAM SPEED CALL:
- Lift the handset and dial *77 (for Speed Call Individual) or *78
(for Speed Call Long).
- After the tone, dial a one-digit code (0-9) for Speed Call
Short or a two-digit code (00-29) for Long.
- Dial the phone number, exactly as you would normally dial
it (4-XXXX or 9-XXX-XXXX). Press the # key. After the tone, the
number has been saved and you can hang up.
TO USE SPEED CALL:
- Lift the handset and press *, followed by the one or two-digit
code.

- Immediately after receiving a harassing phone call, hang up.
- Before receiving another incoming call, lift handset, dial *57.
NOTE: CALL TRACE is for harassing or threatening calls only. A police report must be filed.
