Using the VPN Client to connect to AU Wireless

 

Task:

 

Accessing the AU Wireless network using the Cisco VPN client.

 

How to do it:

1. Make sure you have downloaded and installed the Cisco VPN client.
   
   
2. Verify that your device (laptop, handheld, etc.) can find the wireless access point.
   
   
3. Double-click the installed client and then double-click "AU Wireless".
   
   
   
   
4. Enter your AU user name and computing password when prompted.
   
   
5. Once verified, you are successfully on the AU wireless network using a 168-bit encrypted connection.
   
   

Note: From off-campus, you can get the VPN client (for Windows, Linux or Macintosh) from AU Install at www.auburn.edu/download.

 

The VPN client can be also used on a computer with non-wireless Internet connection (dial-up, DSL, cable, etc.) located anywhere to access on-campus resources. Laptops with internal wireless devices use much less battery power. VPN clients for other operating systems (Solaris, etc.) may be available upon request.
