TigerMail
Accessing TigerMail from your iPhone
Task:
Accessing TigerMail from your iPhone.
How to do it:
Note: Students that have not registered for their first semester cannot use the IMAP feature.
To use Auburn's incoming and outgoing IMAP servers on your iPhone, follow these steps:
- Open Settings applet on phone and go to Mail. Choose New, then 'Other.'
Account would be ON.
Name is your full name.
Address is your AU e-mail address.
Description is arbitrary, e.g. GroupWise, TigerMail, etc.
Incoming Mail Server-
Host Name: tigerin.auburn.edu
User Name: your User Name
Password: your AU password
Outgoing Mail Server-
You will need to modify the outgoing server with the outgoing server of your wireless provider or, if you have a gmail account, you may use smtp.gmail.com with port 587 and SSL turned on. For any other outgoing server such as AT&T, T-Mobile, etc, check the provider's website or give them a call to get the server name and any other applicable information. In all cases for the outgoing server you will need to enter the username and password that is applicable for that account for it to work (e.g. your Gmail username and pwd).
AT&T's setup instructions: http://www.wireless.att.com/support/knowledgeBase.do?content=KB72769.html
Advanced-
The only setting needed here is under Outgoing Settings. Choose Authentication and then choose Password. - Save and exit.
Note: You cannot be on Auburn's wireless network (Tsunami) and use the mail without authenticating through your web browser first (just like you are on a laptop). Also, you cannot send while on Tsunami due to port restrictions. However you should be able to send and receive while on the AT&T network.
