E-mail forwarding
Unless your department has restrictions against it, you or your Administrative Computing Coordinator can make arrangements to have your messages delivered to a different destination address. For example, you might use a commercial ISP account while on sabbatical leave.
Access Request Form
Employees or their Administrative Computing Coordinators can fill out this online form to submit their e-mail forwarding request:

Remember to use your auburn\username to log in.
@auburn.edu is the official AU e-mail address
Every employee and student at AU who uses e-mail has an @auburn.edu style published e-mail address (except students who have specifically requested it not to be released). Their e-mail addresses are published in the AU telephone directory and on the University Directory (People Finder) on the web using information maintained in HRS.
Employees who use e-mail have addresses of the form user@auburn.edu where user is the user name. The published @auburn.edu address is a pointer to the desired actual destination, whether it is a college, department, office or residence, or ISP address and whether they use Pine, GroupWise, or some other e-mail software. Unless a department has restrictions against it, Administrative Computing Coordinators can arrange for messages to be delivered to different destination addresses.
@mail.auburn.edu discontinued
Messages sent to @mail.auburn.edu addresses will still be delivered as usual, but the return address on all outgoing messages from OIT mail servers will use the new format. The shorter @auburn.edu format replaced @mail.auburn.edu as the published address several years ago, and the two formats are functionally equivalent.
Most affected will be subscribers who post to mailing lists.
All messages from lists will continue to be delivered normally, but subscribers will be unable to post to any lists they originally joined using the @mail.auburn.edu format. If you are subscribed to off-campus mailing lists that are important to you, you may wish to ensure your ability to continue posting to them. The simplest way to do this is to unsubscribe yourself and re-subscribe yourself to the list. Most of these lists include instructions on how to do this at the bottom of each message. If you need help, contact the OIT HelpDesk at helpdesk@auburn.edu or (334) 844-4944.
AU lists on majordomo and listserv will not be affected. Owners of off-campus lists with on-campus subscribers may wish to post a notice to AU subscribers advising them to unsubscribe and re-subscribe.
Controlling your published e-mail address
Publishing your e-mail address using the @auburn.edu format allows you to maintain complete control over your e-mail delivery, even when the actual destination changes for whatever reason. Mail addressed to username@auburn.edu can be delivered to any e-mail destination on any platform you desire.
Note: you may also wish to check with the person in your office who handles payroll and the PDF form, to make sure all of your personal information is flagged to be released as you wish.
