General Info
Your User Name, along with your password, is your key to accessing all the technological services available to you at Auburn University. User Names are permanent and unique. They are not re-assigned to another user when the original owner leaves AU.
User Names created after July 5, 2006, will consist of the user's first, middle and last initials followed by a four digit number (ex. abc1234). User Names created before July 5, 2006 will be grandfathered into the system, and generally consist of the first five letters of the last name, followed by the first initial and middle initial.
Examples of services available are:
- Logging in to your AU computer
- GroupWise/TigerMail
- Blackboard & WebCT
- OIT Sun Network
- FTP & Anonymous FTP (Departments only)
- TSM - Tivoli Storage Manager (File Backup)
Employees & Retirees - Employees that do not know their User Name can contact their Administrative Computing Coordinator. To request an e-mail alias, to change your name in the GroupWise address book, or to change e-mail forwarding information, visit: User Name Update Request . (You will need to login using auburn\username and your password.)
Students - Students that do not know their User Name may look on their Student ID card or contacting the OIT HelpDesk.
Alumni and friends - Because resources are limited, it is not possible to provide computing access to people who are not affiliated with Auburn University. This includes alumni and friends.
