Juneteenth Celebration

Dear Members of the Auburn Community:

The Office of Multicultural Affairs, The City of Auburn, The Office of
the President, and the Auburn Black Caucus are sponsoring a 
celebration!! 

Auburn University joins with the Auburn Community and its leaders in
the CELEBRATION OF JUNETEENTH. 

WHEN: June 19th (Wednesday) 

TIMED EVENTS: 
10:00 a.m. UNITY GATHERING 
11:00 a.m. Family & Community CELEBRATION 

WHERE: Samford Lawn and then on to MLK Park 

PURPOSE: To build a sense of community for all races, nationalities,
systems and people of faith. We will emphasize education and achievement
and self-improvement. Given the recent events on our campus, this is an
especially important celebration for this time in our campus and
community history. 

The Morning Event Will Include: 
*Reflections on Emancipation 
*Poetry and Prose 
*Comments From City Officials 
*What is Juneteenth? 
*Interfaith Prayers 
*Reflections on AU Future 
*Linking Auburn University With the Community 

At 11:00 a.m. we will take the short walk from Samford Lawn to the MLK
Park (Buses will be provided for elderly and parents with children). 

The 11:00 Event Will Include (MLK PARK): 
*Picnic 
*Hot dogs, Hamburgers, chips, drink 
*Music 
*Games 
*Other Fun-Filled Activities!!! 

NOTE: Please share with your friends, colleagues, rabbi, pastors, and
others...get them to come. Share with your churches and other people of
spirit and faith. ALL RACES, NATIONALITIES, KINDRED, TONGUE, and PEOPLE
ARE INVITED!!!
