Message From President William F. Walker

Dear Members of the Auburn Community:
   During the past week there have been few substantive developments to
report. We have been working with Representatives and Senators in
Montgomery to achieve all we can on budgetary issues, and also have
participated directly in multiple meetings with the Governor's
representatives and with the leadership of other four-year schools and
universities. These negotiations seem promising. With the legislature in
recess during the coming week, however, I expect few firm conclusions to
be reached very soon. With respect to issues of governance, I have been
working actively to facilitate communication between Auburn's faculty
and the board, especially with respect to proposals that have come
forward from the faculty leadership. 
   As there is significant news,  you will learn of it as soon as
reasonably possible. I wish everyone a good week to come. Those who will
be traveling have my best wishes for a safe return.
