Background:
Shea joined the industrial design faculty in autumn of 2005, and currently teaches fourth-year and second-year studios, photography and applied design research. Previously, he has also led third-year studios in packaging, exhibit, and product design.

Prior professional experience includes work as a senior industrial designer with Techtronic Industries developing Ryobi, Ridgid, and Craftsman power tools, and with Cooper Lighting designing commercial lighting systems. In addition, Shea was a user researcher with SonicRim, a research and strategy consultancy based in Columbus, Ohio.
