Regardless of platform, there are a few things to know about Podcasting:

Software:

• PC
• Audacity - An audio recording and editing program. With the LAME encoder, Audacity can export to MP3
• Wondershare - A conversion program that will convert PowerPoint files into MP4 files (easier, but takes longer)
• Camtasia - A conversion program that will convert PowerPoint files into MP4 files (quicker, but more advanced)
• Movie Maker - A video editing program that comes free with Service Pack 2
• MediaCoder - An audio/video conversion program, supports multiple file formats
• MAC
• Audacity - An audio recording and editing program. With the LAME encoder, Audacity can export to MP3
• Garage Band - An audio recording and editing program. Can create enhanced podcasts (audio with still images)
• Profcast - For recording narration in Keynote, and converting it to MP4
• iMovie - A program for captureing and editing video using the built-in cameras or imported video

Hardware:

• USB headsets with noise canceling microphones
• Digital video camera - webcam or digital video camera with focus and zoom
• PC laptop - May be checked out on-site to use for podcasting

Quiet Space:

• Conference room that may be reserved in 1-hour intervals

Podcasts: IMG offers various podcasts on the basics of podcasting available through iTunes U. (Must have iTunes installed)
