The Auburn Herpetological Society provides a service to the Auburn community by rescuing and relocating native reptiles and amphibians that have been found in inhabited areas, generally within city limits.  Our service is designed to safely remove unwanted animals from these areas and relocate them unharmed to more suitable locations.  Our team is knowledgeable in handling and capturing all reptiles and amphibians native to Alabama including venomous snakes and alligators.

In addition to relocation of live animals, we are also interested in deceased or injured herps.  Some of our members are involved in the curation of the Auburn Natural History Museum and thus we are interested in obtaining road killed or other accidentally killed animals for use as museum specimens.  In accordance with our conservation philosophy, we do not support the needless killing of reptiles or amphibians.  Rather we are interested in increasing the knowledge and present understanding of  current reptile and amphibian distributions through donations of specimens that have been found already dead.  It is vital that these donated specimens include all of the following information:

                        -Name of Collector
                        -Date of collection
-Exact locality, with as much detail as possible (EXAMPLE: "On Donahue Drive,
0.2 miles north of the intersection with Glenn Avenue, Lee County, Alabama").
-Any additional comments (Weather conditions, time of day etc.)
