Grants
Only
undergraduate
students
who
have
not
previously
received
a
bachelor's
degree
and
who
demonstrate
appropriate
need
are
eligible
for
the
following
programs.
Federal
Pell
Grant
A
federal
grant
program,
Pell
Grants
ranging
from
$400
to
$4050
per
academic
year
are
available
to
eligible
students.
The
amount
of
an
individual
student's
grant
is
based
on
the
Expected
Family
Contribution
(EFC)
as
determined
by
the
Federal
Processor and
enrollment
status.
Awards
are
limited
to
the
1st
undergraduate
degree.
Federal
Supplemental
Educational
Opportunity
Grant
(FSEOG)
Federal
grants
ranging
from
$100
to
$1000
per
academic
year
are
awarded
to
students
with
exceptional
financial
need. Generally,
students
must
be
eligible
for
a
Federal
Pell
Grant,
apply
early,
and
meet
other
eligibility
requirements
in
order
to
be
considered.
Funds
for
this
program
are
limited.
Alabama
Student
Assistance
Program
(ASAP)
State-funded
grants
ranging
from
$100
to
$750
per
academic
year
are
available
to
Alabama
residents
who
demonstrate
financial
need.
Generally,
students
must
be
eligible
for
a
Federal
Pell
Grant,
apply
early,
be
an
Alabama
resident,
and
meet
other
eligibility
requirements
in
order
to
be
considered.
Funds
for
this
program
are
very
limited.
Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG)
Recent legislation has created 2 new grants for undergraduate students. To be eligible for these grants, students must meet general conditions including: U.S. Citizenship, full time enrollment in a first undergraduate degree program, 3.0 grade point average (if enrolled for the 2nd year or beyond), and eligible for the Pell Grant. Potential recipients will be requested to complete the ACG Application . First year ACG recipients are eligible for $750 and second year ACG recipients are eligible for $1300.
SMART Grant
The SMART Grant is for third and fourth year undergraduate students who
are majoring in specific degree programs .
Students must also meet the general conditions of the ACG Grant (Full
time, U.S. Citizen, 3.0 GPA). Students who qualify may be eligible for
up to $4000 per year for their 3rd and 4th year of study.
