Faculty members in the College of Liberal Arts' Master of Public Administration program at Auburn University have expertise in voter registration and election administration that is unparalleled in the United States. We offer both a non-degree certificate program for elections and voter registration officials and a graduate degree in public administration with a concentration in election administration.
Certificate Program for Election and Voter Registration Officials (CERA/CERV)
Auburn University has been a national leader in promoting professionalism in this important field of public service. In 1994, faculty in the Master of Public Administration program, which is housed in the College of Liberal Arts, formed a partnership with The Election Center, a nonprofit, international organization of local and state election officials, to create a professional education program in voter registration and election administration. The mandatory 12-course curriculum includes courses such as Management Concepts in Election and Voter Registration Administration, Facilitating Voter Participation, History of Election and Voter Registration, Election Law, Implementing New Programs, and Information Management and Technology.
Graduate Concentration in Election Administration in the MPA Program
Auburn University leads the nation in offering advanced and specialized curriculum for those interested in careers in voter registration and election administration. With the expertise the Auburn faculty has gained through more than a decade of experience teaching elections officials, they are able to offer the first election administration concentration in a public administration master’s program in the United States. No other program has as many faculty who have been involved in the field for as extensive a period as does Auburn University. The faculty are abreast of the latest innovations, the most controversial issues, and the variety of voting systems employed throughout the country. This MPA concentration offers students a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of election reform in the United States and to be a part of improving American democracy. |
