Dr. Overtoun Jenda
Associate Provost for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs
Dr. Jenda was appointed Associate Provost for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs effective January 1, 2006. Dr Jenda was a faculty at University of Malawi, University of Botswana, and University of Kentucky before coming to Auburn University in 1988. His area of research is Algebra and has published two graduate and research level books and over sixty research articles in this area.
Dr. Jenda served as Director of the Minority Drop-In Center from 1994 to 2000 and as Associate Dean in the College of Sciences and Mathematics from 2000 to 2005. In this capacity, his duties included the planning, promotion, and implementation of programs for the recruitment, enrollment, and retention of minority students in the college. He has also provided the leadership and assisted departments in developing and implementing programs for improving the academic success of all undergraduate students taking courses or following curricula offered by the college. Dr. Jenda serves as the principal investigator of several programs including the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation, Bridge to the Doctorate, Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate, and the NSF Graduate Teaching Fellows in K-12 Education Program.
Dr. Jenda has a BS with Distinction from University of Malawi, and MA, PhD from University of Kentucky.
