networks, operating systems, intelligent systems
- 3 hours of Software Engineering Design Project (included in the
33 hours)
Departmental Prerequisites
For those applicants with little formal training and/or experience in Computer
Science or Software Engineering, the following prerequisite areas are considered
essential to succeed in our graduate programs.
1. FUNDAMENTALS OF COMPUTER SCEINCE, including programming
in C, C++, or Java, and data structures.
2. MATHEMATICAL FOUNDATIONS OF COMPUTER
SCIENCE, including discrete structures, algorithms design
and analysis.
3. COMPUTER ORGANIZATION AND SYSTEM SOFTWARE, including assembly

However, the prerequisite prescription is largely dependent on the individual
applicant's background and experience.
One limitation of the Outreach program is that the undergraduate prerequisites
(see below) are not available through the Auburn Outreach program. Potential
applicants without formal Computer Science or Software Engineering education
would have to fulfill the prerequisite requirement from other universities
or colleges. Equipment Requirements
- Students are required to have either a Personal Computer or Laptop
(Celeron 1.0 GHz minimum/ Pentium 4 1.5 GHz desired). CDROM drive required/DVD
drive suggested
- Students must have access to the Internet (dial up minimum, high
speed suggested)
- Course materials are delivered in DVD-R format, therefore students
must have access to a DVD player\drive on which to view the course
videos.
Other Requirements
- Each candidate must pass an on-campus final written examination covering
the course work taken for this degree.
- The Graduate School allows a student 5 years from the time of admittance
to complete the degree program.
