Requirements

Admission Requirements

Graduate School Minimum Requirements:

  • A minimum of 15 semester credits in 7000/8000 level courses
  • A minimum of 21 semester credits in the major area
  • A minimum of 24 semester credits taken at Auburn

Degree Requirements

  • Requires a minimum of 27 semester hours of graduate course work other than CIVL 7980
  • Three semester hours of Civil Engineering Project (CIVL 7980), culminating in a final written report approved by the student's advisory committee
  • Courses in related fields outside of the department can be taken as part of the mandatory 27 hours
  • The specific plan of study must be approved by the student's advisory committee
  • Must pass an on-campus comprehensive oral examination covering course work and the project
  • No language requirement
  • No residency requirement

Equipment Requirements

  • Students are required to have either a Personal Computer or Laptop (Celeron 1.0 GHz minimum/ Pentium 4 1.5 GHz desired). CDROM drive required/DVD drive suggested
  • Students must have access to the Internet (dial up minimum, high speed suggested)
  • Course materials are delivered in DVD-R format, therefore students must have access to a DVD player\drive on which to view the course videos.

Other Requirements

  • The Graduate School allows you 5 years from the time of admittance to complete your degree program.
