Program Description

The Auburn University Samuel Ginn College of Engineering provides the curriculum necessary for you to earn your non-thesis Master of Chemical Engineering through distance education.

The program is a flexible, DVD-R based adaptation of the traditional or on-campus program. Graduate level courses are taped in our multimedia classrooms while the classes are being conducted. The DVDs are then mailed on the day of the class and are usually available for you the day after the on-campus session end.

The course of study is sufficiently flexible to allow the chemical engineering professionals as graduate students to individually tailor an appropriate plan of study to meet the student’s background and professional interests with the assistance of the Program Advisor, Dr. Robert P. Chambers, Department Head of Chemical Engineering.

Individualized interdisciplinary programs which cross the traditional departmental boundaries are encouraged. These may include collaborative work in chemistry, engineering disciplines, physics, mathematics, agriculture, forestry, biology, microbiology, genetics and health sciences or other areas.

As a distance education student, you are expected to complete the same homework assignments and take the same exams as on-campus students. In effect, you are in the same class and receiving the same quality instruction as on-campus students.
