Requirements

Admission requirements and prerequisites for the Distance Learning Ed.S. in the Foreign Language Education program are identical to those of the traditional program.

Potential students will apply to the Graduate School, following normal application procedures of the Graduate School.

The standard requirements include:

  • Applicants to the program must have a master°s degree in Foreign Language Education or Spanish or its equivalent and supply transcripts, GRE scores, and three letters of recommendation to be considered for admission to the program.
  • Upon completion of course work, students must pass a written examination that will be administered by their specialist°s advisory committee.

Special Options and Requirements:

  • Each semester, students in all courses are required to attend two weekend seminars held on campus. The first seminar in the fall includes a technology orientation, use of WebCT, use of library distance offerings and meetings with professors.
  • Students in CTSE 7526 have the option to complete their ethnographic studies while they study abroad.
  • Students in CTSE 8986 are required to orally defend the results of their field projects on campus.
  • The State Department of Education requires that students who did not complete a special education course (generally more than 20 years ago) as part of their bachelor°s degree will have to complete a special education course.
