Requirements
Admission requirements and prerequisites for the distance education Ed.S. in Foreign Language Education are identical to those of the traditional program.
Potential students will apply to the Graduate
School, following the policies and application procedures of the Graduate School. Applicants must have a bachelor's degree in either Spanish or French education or its equivalent.
Standard requirements include:
- Applicants must have original transcripts from every school they have attended sent to the Graduate School as well as valid GRE scores. GRE scores are only valid for five years.
- Applicants must send three letters of recommendation, a photo copy of their renewable teaching certificate, and a one page resume to Dr. Nancy Barry, 5040 Haley Center, Auburn University, AL 36849.
- Once you have applied, we will send you the information for your background check. The background check is required by the Alabama State Department of Education even if you have already had a background check in another state.
- Upon completion of course work, students must pass a written examination that will be administered by their master's degree advisory committee.
Special Options and Requirements:
- Each semester, students in all courses are required to attend two weekend seminars held on campus. The first seminar in the fall includes a technology orientation, use of Blackboard and Live Classroom, use of library distance offerings and meetings with professors.
- Students in CTSE 7520 and 7526 are required to complete their ethnographic projects while they study abroad.
- Students in CTSE 8986 are required to orally defend the results of their field projects on campus.
- The State Department of Education requires that any students who did not complete a special education course as part of their bachelor's degree will have to complete a special education course.
