Requirements
Admission Procedures and Requirements
You must apply to both the Auburn University Graduate School and the Rehabilitation
and Special Education Department (RSED). You may access both of these applications
at the RSED departmental website.
The departmental and general admissions requirements include:
(a) completing and submitting the Graduate School application;
(b) taking the Graduate Record Exam and having your GRE scores sent
to Auburn University (ETS Institutional Code 1005);
(c) having all transcripts sent to AU from previous undergraduate
or graduate institutions you have attended (you must have an overall
undergraduate GPA of a 2.5);
(d) submitting the $25 application fee
(e) complete the departmental application and send to Dr. Brown (see
below); and
(f) have three letters of recommendation sent directly to:

Degree Requirements
- The Traditional Master's Program requires 31 hours.
- The 5th Year Master's Program requires 45 hours.
- All enrollees will be required to attend two summer sessions on campus
of approximately 6 weeks. A primary focus of this on-campus time will
be for the students to work under faculty supervision in the department’s
Summer Learning Clinic in June, which serves over 150 children and
youth.
- All graduate students must qualify to be a Highly Qualified Teacher
as described by the "No Child Left Behind" Act. Please see

State Department of Education, Alabama Model for Highly Qualified Teachers.
If applicants lack the required undergraduate courses to be deemed
highly qualified, they must arrange to take them concurrently with
and independently of this program.
