IMPACT
IMPACT is a student-operated
organization on Auburn's campus that gives students an opportunity to
volunteer by acting as a clearinghouse that links Auburn's students and
campus organizations to needs in the community. The mission of IMPACT is "to
serve the Auburn community by being a resource for students who wish to
volunteer, promoting volunteerism on Auburn's campus and strengthening ties
between the campus and the community." Auburn University is a land-grant
institution that has a tradition of service and outreach to the surrounding
community. IMPACT is a reflection of that tradition.
IMPACT is a noncommittal, community service organization whose main goal is
to give all those who are interested an opportunity to volunteer in a
variety of different ways in the Auburn community. Our Project Coordinators
meet at the parking strip between the intramural field and softball stadium
at scheduled times to take volunteers out to our designated projects.
Everyone is welcome to join us so check out our schedule to see what time is
best for you!
Eagle Eye
Eagle Eye News is a student television news organization at Auburn
University in Auburn, Alabama. Each week during the fall and spring
semesters, we produce a half-hour television news program that covers campus
and area news. Everything about the show is entirely produced by students,
and we're the only television news program in Alabama to do so.
Eagle Eye News started back in 1992 as a subsidiary of the University
Program Council (U.P.C.) with analog equipment and linear editing systems.
Today, we're our own student organization with a completely digital pipeline
and non-linear editing systems incorporating industry-standard software.
Glom
The Glomerata is Auburn University's annual yearbook. Published every year
in the spring since 1897, the Glom has an annual press run of twelve
thousand copies. This is the second largest distribution in the country.
The Glom is generally comprised of seven different sections, totaling around
545 pages. The Glom is produced by a volunteer staff of undergraduate
students mainly during the Fall Semester. The purpose of the book is to
document one entire school year at Auburn University, including sports,
campus events, and organizations.
The book takes its name from the word "conglomeration." Webster's Ninth New
Collegiate Dictionary defines the word as "made up of parts of various
sources and kinds" or "the gathering into a mass or coherent whole."
University Program Council
The University Program Council is a student-led organization responsible for
utilizing student activity fee funds to sponsor campus entertainment. Made
up of 12 committees that program and provide support for events, there is
something in UPC for everyone! Some of our annual traditions include Tiger
Nights, a late-night, campus-wide party, major concerts, free outdoor,
indoor and drive-in movies, educational workshops, comedy shows, and special
events and projects. Some of our past entertainment has included Ludacris,
Diamond Rio, Gavin DeGraw, Sister Hazel, Yonder Mountain String Band, Jim
Breuer, Charlie Murphy, and Bruce Bruce.
