Help for Streaming
Class Media (College of Education)
To
view classes, live or archived, you will need to have Real Player installed
on your computer. You can download a free version here: FREE
REAL PLAYER DOWNLOAD
It
is recommended that you have a DSL or Cable internet connection. Dial-up
will work, but watching a streamed class could be problematic. It is
recommended that you use a WIRED connection to view class. We cannot
troubleshoot wifi.
CONNECTION
SPEED USING REAL PLAYER
In
the Real Player menu, click on TOOLS, then in the drop-down menu, at the
bottom, select PREFERENCES. A new window will pop up and in the left-hand
side, find CONNECTION and click on it. The right-hand side will change
to a Connection section. At the top, near the YELLOW TELEPHONE/BANDWIDTH
area, there will be a button labeled TEST CONNECTION and two drop-down
menus labeled NORMAL and MAXIMUM. If you would like to use the TEST
CONNECTION, feel free, but with each test, it could give you a different
connection speed. For best results, we suggest setting the NORMAL
and MAXIMUM yourself. If you have DSL/Cable, for NORMAL, select 384
kbps and for MAXIMUM, select 512 kbps. If you are viewing a class
at work, you might have a higher speed connection. Please check with
your IT representative at work to find out what connection speed to use.
If you are still having problems with viewing a streamed class, you might
want to try lowering the connections speeds to lower speeds.
It

Once
you have Real Player installed, you can click on the LIVE STREAM link above
or on any of the archived Real links on the media
page to verify.
