Learn About the Importance of Unrestricted Giving

Auburn University’s fourth annual Tiger Giving Day, held on February 21, was a success thanks to the nearly 4,000 Auburn alumni and friends who supported 31 projects across the university.  Three of these projects were in COSAM – Fighting Drug Resistant Bacteria in Dirt; Rebuilding the Davis Arboretum Bridge, and STEM Students Studying Water Quality Abroad.  Each was fully funded, so be on the lookout for progress updates.

Gifts designated for particular areas, including scholarships, outreach efforts, specific research, and faculty support are crucial for COSAM to continue its tradition of excellence.

But did you know that unrestricted giving is equally important?

The Dean’s Priority Partners are alumni, parents and friends of COSAM who play an integral role in providing support for Dean Nick Giordano.  These gifts allow Dean Giordano to meet immediate needs of the college.  Some recent examples of the impact this generosity include providing an emergency scholarship to a student who would have had to leave school otherwise, aiding in the recruitment of elite faculty, and supporting the COSAM Leaders, undergraduate hosts for the college.

In addition to current concerns, Dean Giordano is also able to take advantage of unexpected opportunities such as inviting a renowned speaker to campus, securing a piece of state-of-the-art equipment, or providing seed money to a new outreach program.

The Dean’s Priority Partners commit to minimum annual gifts of $1,000, and help shape the future of COSAM.  They are recognized for the visionaries they are with an annual reception hosted by Dean Giordano, and may receive priority to purchase football parking.

“My time at Auburn as a chemistry major was pivotal to my career as a physician and scientist. At this time in my life I am fortunate to be able to give financially to COSAM through Dean Giordano’s unrestricted fund so that others may have the opportunity to enjoy a similar superlative, life changing experience.”
