The new Leach Science Center Addition will provide one facility for both faculty and students in the Department of Physics.

“For a long time, most of the research space has been in the Leach Science Center, while most of the faculty and undergraduates have been in Allison Laboratory building with the graduate students split between the two locations,” explained Greg Hartwell, associate research professor in the Department of Physics.

“Having everyone together will lead to more face-to-face contact between faculty and students, which will naturally enhance our research efforts.”

Research laboratories have been in the original portion of the Leach Science Center while faculty offices and students have been in the Allison Laboratory. The new facility brings everyone together in one location for easier collaboration and research opportunities.

“Additionally, I expect that undergraduates in Physics will be more exposed to our research and find it easier to participate,” he added.
