A former Auburn University College of Sciences and Mathematics (COSAM) student will travel to Atlanta this weekend as his NFL team the Los Angeles Rams plays in the big game. LA Rams General Manager Les Snead is originally from Eufaula, Alabama, and grew up an Auburn fan.

Snead received his Bachelor of Science in 1994 from Auburn University in Pre-Med Psychology and a Master of Human Exercise Science in 1996.

Snead played tight-end for the Auburn football team and later became a graduate assistant, coordinating visits by NFL scouts and assisting with recruiting administration, which he said led him to where he is today.

Former Auburn football position coach and currently Associate Head Coach Rodney Garner remembers Snead as a hard worker, which is why he was offered the GA position.

“He was undersized but just a scrappy guy who loved Auburn, loved football,” Garner recently told AuburnTigers.com. “A true Auburn man.”

Snead said that Garner was a big influence to him and said that job helped him form the relationships for future NFL scouting jobs in Atlanta and Jacksonville before taking the GM job with the Rams in 2012.

“I wouldn't be the GM of the Rams without his impact on my life,” Snead said.

Snead also told AuburnTigers.com that he still pays attention to Auburn’s football program and said coach Gus Malzahn is an insightful sounding board in the business.

"Auburn is in excellent hands with people like [Malzahn and Garner] in the family," he said.

Watch the Los Angeles Rams take on the New England Patriots today at 5:30 p.m.
