Title: Exploding endpoints and Erdős spaces

Abstract: A topological space is almost zero-dimensional (AZD) provided each point has arbitrarily small neighborhoods which are intersections of clopen sets. The rational and irrational Hilbert spaces are examples of almost zero-dimensional spaces that are cohesive, meaning they have one-point connectifications. Naturally occurring cohesive AZD spaces can be found in Julia sets of complex exponentials. In this talk I will present joint work with Jan J. Dijkstra regarding rim-type of cohesive AZD space; embedding into fans and other one-dimensional continua; and homeomorphism types of "exploding endpoints" of Julia sets.
