MS-NT Pre-Professional Program Information Page

Can you tell me more about this program?

Students enrolled in the Master’s Non-Thesis Pre-Professional program will take 30 semesters of graded graduate-level science courses to improve their credentials for application to dental, medical, optometry, physician assistant, and other health professions programs

What are the degree requirements?

  • 30 hours of graded graduate-level course work in Biological Sciences related fields (6000-7000 level)
  • 4 hours of BIOL 7960 Special Problems: Biomedical Sciences Seminar (can be counted toward the 30 total hours)
  • Student must submit an approved Plan of Study to the graduate school (plan of study checklist)
  • Students must take and successfully pass a written comprehensive exam in order to graduate from the program. For the exam, students will be tested on their choice of 3 out of 5 subject modules depending on their area of concentration.

How long does the program take to complete?

  • The program is designed to be completed in 2-3 semesters.

Do I need a faculty sponsor or major professor?

  • Students applying for the Pilot MS-NT pre-professional program are not required to have faculty sponsorship
  • Dr. Joanna Diller, the program coordinator, will serve as the major professor of record for all pre-professional students

Dr. Joanna Diller, Program Coordinator, will serve as major professor and will tailor the program to meet a student’s individual needs based on their backgrounds, interests and strengths.
