Minor

EARN A MINOR IN PHYSICS

The University requires 15 hours for a minor.  Assuming that the student has taken PHYS1607 and 1617 or PHYS1600 and 1610, the following courses are required for a minor in physics:

Course Hrs  Title
PHYS2100
Intermediate Mechanics
PHYS2200
Introductory Quantum Physics and Relativity
PHYS3100
Intermediate Electricity and Magnetism
PHYS3200
Statistical Thermodynamics
PHYS4100
Fundamentals of Quantum Mechanics

Often students minoring in physics may have taken a course in their major that overlaps strongly with one of the required courses listed above.  In that case, the student may substitute a physics course at the 5000 level.
