The Auburn University Band program will welcome the official fanfare ensemble for the president of the United States, the U.S. Army Herald Trumpets, to campus to perform with the Symphonic Winds ensemble for a fall concert Wednesday, Oct. 4, and with the Marching Band for the Military Appreciation halftime show Oct. 7.

Based in Washington, D.C., the Herald Trumpets encompass a portion of the brass section of the U.S. Army Band and are known for their performances for the president, welcoming foreign dignitaries and appearing at significant national and international events.

The group will perform with the Symphonic Winds ensemble for its fall concert Oct. 4 at 7:30 p.m. in the Telfair Peet Theatre. Admission is $10 for students and $15 for general admission.

As part of Auburn’s Military Appreciation Game Saturday, Oct. 7, the Herald Trumpets will be the feature artist during the halftime show for the Auburn versus Ole Miss football game. The Herald Trumpets will perform in a solo capacity as well as with the Auburn University Marching Band.

The Military Appreciation Game will also include a pass and review from the Auburn’s ROTC units down the 50-yard line for the opening of the show, as well as card stunt for fans in the eastside lower bowl section of Jordan-Hare Stadium that will create an American flag backdrop while the band performs.

"When you mix the Herald Trumpets, the card stunt and ROTC, it’s definitely going to be something fans do not want to miss," said Corey Spurlin, Auburn University associate director of bands.

In addition to the performances, the Herald Trumpets will hold clinics for music students at Auburn during their visit.

"This is an incredible opportunity," Spurlin said. "These are musicians who are at the top of their field. It’s a good role model to put in front of them to show what they could become if they work hard."
