AU COLLEGE OF BUSINESS MOVES UP SIX SPOTS IN LATEST U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT RANKING

The College of Business has been ranked 51st among the nation’s undergraduate business programs, up from 57th in 2006 and 2005, according to the U.S. News & World Report 2007 edition of America’s Best Colleges.

Among public institutions, AU’s College of Business is ranked No. 31 in the nation, marking the fourth consecutive year the College has attained a top 40 business rating.

“Auburn University has great people, faculty, staff, students and alumni, who make this kind of progress possible,” says Paul Bobrowski, dean and Wachovia Professor. “Together we will continue to make strides towards our goal of being a top 20 public business school.”

AU’s program was ranked No. 6 among Southeastern Conference-member
institutions behind the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business, the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, the University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business, the University of Arkansas Walton College of Business and the University of Tennessee’s College of Business.

The College of Business finished ahead of the University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration, the University of Kentucky’s Gatton College of Business and Economics, and Louisiana State University’s E. J. Ourso College of Business, who were tied at No. 60.

The University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School was ranked as the nation’s top undergraduate business program while the University of California-Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor were ranked best among public institutions.

U.S. News surveys deans and senior faculty at undergraduate business programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). Participants are asked to rate the quality of all programs they are familiar with on a scale of 1 (marginal) to 5 (distinguished). The “Best Undergraduate Business Programs” rankings are based solely on this peer survey.

The College of Business at Auburn University is accredited at the undergraduate and graduate levels by AACSB, the highest standard of achievement for business schools. Less than one-third of U.S. business schools and only 15 percent of business schools worldwide meet the rigorous standards of AACSB International accreditation. Institutions that earn accreditation confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review.
