AU’S COLLEGE OF BUSINESS RECEIVES ENDOWMENT
David and Meredith Luck of Chicago, Ill., have established a $300,000 endowed professorship in College of Business.
The professorship will be awarded to a professor who exhibits a strong commitment to students and offers high quality instruction, research and outreach. The professor must use the funds to strengthen and enhance his or her program for the college and serve as a role model for students.
“By providing an endowed professorship as David and Meredith Luck have done, we will be able to recognize and reward faculty achievement,” said Bobrowski. “Retaining and attracting good faculty is the key to building great programs.”
After David Luck’s graduation from Auburn in 1971, he accepted a position as a manager trainee for the retail division of Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. In 1992, David was named president and chief executive officer of the 1,550-store Retail Operations Division of Bridgestone/Firestone Inc. David retired from Bridgestone/Firestone in 1998 and accepted a new job as president, chief operating officer and director of American Builders and Contractors Supply Co. Inc.
Meredith, who holds responsibilities at home and in the community, has a passion for working with developmentally disabled children and is currently involved with a therapeutic horse-riding program.
Additional contributions to the fund are being accepted.
The College of Business at Auburn University is accredited at the undergraduate and graduate levels by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International), the highest standard of achievement for business schools. Fewer than 20 percent of collegiate business programs around the world have earned AACSB accreditation. Institutions that earn accreditation confirm their commitment to quality and continuous improvement through a rigorous and comprehensive peer review.
Auburn University is currently undergoing its largest fundraising campaign ever. The “It Begins at Auburn” campaign is a $500 million comprehensive campaign that will raise funds for all colleges and schools on campus as well as the library, athletics, Auburn University at Montgomery and the museum. The campaign’s focus includes student, faculty and program endowments; facility, equipment and campus beautification; research and current operations.
