AU students convert shipping container into home for Katrina victims
A temporary housing unit designed by students in Auburn University’s College of Architecture, Design and Construction was moved this month to benefit a family in hurricane-ravaged Gulfport, Miss. The innovative, weather-resistant housing unit was made from a shipping container and transformed into a residence by graduate students in the college’s design/build program.

The Auburn football program posted an impressive multi-year academic progress rate of 981 which ranks in the 90th-100th percentile nationally, the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) released this month as part of its 2004-05 Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR) report.

David DiRamio, an assistant professor of educational leadership, will be awarded the 2006 Melvene D. Hardee Dissertation of the Year Award presented by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators during its annual conference in Washington, D.C., this month.

Auburn Alumni Association honors faculty for teaching excellence, enhancing diversity
This month the Auburn Alumni Association presented its annual Alumni Undergraduate Teaching Excellence Awards to Sheri Brock, assistant professor of education; Paula Peek, assistant professor of community affairs; and Brian Gibson, associate professor of aviation management logistics.
The Association also recognized Curtis Jolly, chairman of the agricultural economics department, for his contribution to attracting, retaining and improving graduation rates of minority students at the university.
