EmploymentBIGGIO CENTER FOR THE ENHANCEMENT OF TEACHING AND LEARNING AUBURN UNIVERSITY Auburn University invites applications and nominations for the position of Assistant Director, Biggio Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning. Auburn University, located in Auburn, Alabama, is the land grant research and teaching institution in the state with an enrollment of approximately 24,000 students. The position is a 12-month appointment. This is a unique opportunity to participate in the development of a center that has unquestioned institutional and financial support. We seek applicants who will work to advance the 5-year old university-wide teaching and learning center, funded through an initial $10 million endowed gift from the estate of Alvin A. and Mila Biggio. The mission of the Biggio Center is to promote professional growth and development for faculty members, graduate teaching assistants, and administrative and professional staff in knowledge, techniques, and skills related to teaching and learning. The Assistant Director will generally be responsible for program development, delivery, and evaluation; GTA development; consultation with instructional staff; and building communication networks and interaction across campus to enhance the instructional mission of the university. Specific responsibilities include: Develop, promote, and deliver presentations, programs, seminars, workshops, conferences, retreats, as appropriate; conduct individual consultations (including Small Group Instructional Feedback and classroom observation of teaching) with faculty and GTAs to improve teaching and learning; coordinate graduate student professional development activities; coordinate Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) program and teach PFF Seminars; assist faculty with the development of external grant proposals related to teaching and learning; coordinate the Breeden Faculty Development Grant Program; assist with program assessment activities; support faculty scholarship of teaching and learning activities; attend and present at professional conferences such as POD, ISL, and Lilly; teach graduate courses as appropriate. Required qualifications: Master's Degree, academic discipline open, ABD or earned doctorate preferred; demonstrated record of excellence in college or university teaching; knowledge of research, scholarship, and current issues related to learning, teaching, and faculty development (such as SOTL, instructional technology, Preparing Future Faculty, assessment of student learning outcomes); and evidence of strong interpersonal and organizational skills. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment; excellent communication skills required.
