Graduate Assistante-mail: jab0041@auburn.edu Mr. Jamie Bowman graduated from the University of Alabama in August 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education. While attending UA, Jamie was a member of the marching band (Drum Major and Trumpet Section Leader), Women’s Basketball Pep Band, Alabama Wind Ensemble (Principal Trumpet), UA Symphonic Band, Alabama Jazz Ensemble, UA Symphony Orchestra, Alabama Contemporary Ensemble, UA Chorus, and also performed on occasion with the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra and UA Faculty Brass Quintet. After graduation he continued playing trumpet in weddings and musicals throughout Birmingham and North Alabama. Mr. Bowman’s student teaching included placements at Tuscaloosa County High School, Pizitz Middle School, and Shades Cahaba Elementary School. Mr. Bowman has 6 years of public school teaching experience, including positions at Cedar Ridge Middle School (Decatur, AL), Decatur High School, Tuscaloosa County High School, and Mary G. Montgomery High School. His marching and concert bands consistently received superior ratings at festivals and competitions. While at Cedar Ridge, he also served on the staff of the Austin High School Band. Mr. Bowman’s band students have gone on to participate in university programs across the Southeast, including every major program in the State of Alabama. Mr. Bowman has served as a drum major and band adjudicator throughout North Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. He has been included in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers, and professional affiliations include the Alabama Bandmasters Association, Alabama Music Educators Association, and the Music Educators National Conference. |
