Camp Rules

  1. Hours
    • Check-in for the camp will occur from 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
    • Each day’s events will begin with breakfast in Terrell Hall. You are expected to report to the designated areas at the designated time according to the camp schedule.
    • There will be a nighttime activity following the last session each evening. All campers who are staying in the dorms must be in their assigned suite by 11:00 PM each night or following the evening activity if it runs late.
    • See the camp schedule for more time and location details.
  2. Visitors
    • Since the camp is only a few days long and each day will be full of events, visitors will not be permitted. If parents need to get in touch with their child at camp for an emergency reason, please call the band office at (334) 844-4166.
  3. Practicing
    • Practicing musical instruments will not be permitted in the dorm.
  4. Automobiles
    • Commuter campers are to park in assigned areas and arrive on time each day.
    • Resident campers who are driving their own vehicles will be assigned a parking location at check in. After parking, resident campers will turn in their keys to the camp staff and have them returned at camp’s end.
  5. Identification Badges
    • Each camper is to have his or her ID badge at all times. This ID badge will be needed to enter the dining area.
  6. Cell Phones
    • Cell phones will not be used during rehearsals, sectionals, master classes, or performances.
    • Phones should be turned off to avoid disrupting rehearsals and performances.
  7. Housing Regulations
    • Furniture may not be moved from one room to another.
    • Charges will be made for damages to property. Any damages will be billed to the students and/or parent(s).
    • No room visitation is permitted by members of the opposite sex at any time.
    • Be courteous to other patrons by keeping excess noise to a minimum.
  8. Safety
    • Do not leave your assigned area without expressed permission from the band director or designated chaperone.
    • Eat something at all meals and stay hydrated.
  9. Grounds for Dismissal
    • Use or possession of any non-prescribed drug, alcohol, marijuana, tobacco product, or any other controlled substance
    • Use of fireworks
    • Possession of any weapon
    • Breaking of any civil law or city ordinance is grounds for automatic dismissal from the camp.
    • Should you be dismissed for any of these reasons, your parents or guardians will be notified as well as the University Police Department. Students dismissed from camp at any time will not be reimbursed any camp fee paid.
  10. Prescription Medication
    • All campers who require special prescription medications must report them on their camp medical form.
    • All campers who require special prescription medications are responsible for administering their own medicine unless prior arrangements are made with the camp staff prior to camp or at check in.
  11. Additional rules will be specified at the initial camp meeting.

Packing Items

  • Comfortable clothes and walking shoes
  • Bed linens for a twin bed
  • Bath towels and washcloths
  • Toiletry items
  • Spending money for souvenirs and snacks
  • CD of the concert performance will be available for purchase for $10 each.
  • Instrument (including all accessories - reeds, neck straps, cork grease, valve oil, etc..)
  • If you are a percussionist, you should bring your sticks, mallets, and/or snare drums.
  • Auxiliary participants need their own equipment (e.g., batons, rifles, sabers, flags, and flag poles).

Directions to Goodwin Music Building:

To Auburn from Montgomery via I-85 North:

  • Take I-85 N
  • Take Exit 51
  • Make a LEFT at the light onto College St.
  • Stay on College St. for about 4 miles.
  • Make a LEFT at the intersection of Samford Avenue and College Street.
  • Continue on Samford Avenue past the four-way stop.
  • Goodwin Music Building will be the third building on the right.

To Auburn from Atlanta via I-85 South:

  • Take I-85 S
  • Take EXIT 57
  • Follow road to the right.
  • At the traffic light, take a LEFT (you are now on Glenn Ave.)
  • Stay on Glenn Ave. for about 4 miles
  • Make a LEFT at the intersection of Gay Street and Glenn Avenue.
  • Make a RIGHT at the intersection of Samford Avenue and Gay Street.
  • Continue on Samford Avenue through the next traffic light and past the four-way stop.
  • Goodwin Music Building will be the third building on the right.
