(19 Semester Hours)

The following guidelines and restrictions apply to Auburn University B.A. degree programs in French, French-International Trade, German, German-International Trade, Spanish, and Spanish- International Trade:

·         No more than 19 hours may transfer in Area V for these 120-degree hour programs. A total of 8 hours (more or less depending on credits in the introductory and intermediate foreign language sequences) were specified by the AGSC as required; the remaining 11 hours (or so) should be used to complete Auburn requirements (see below) with the balance of hours, if any, used as elective course work.

·         Courses recommended in Areas I - IV but not taken should be completed as electives under Area V. For example:

o        A course in the use of microcomputers is highly recommended for language majors and required for International Trade majors: CIS 146 is strongly recommended.

o        SPH 107 Fundamentals of Public Speaking (3 SH) is required.

·         International Trade majors (in French, German, and Spanish) should complete a course in microeconomics (ECO 232), in macroeconomics (ECO 231), and take two introductory accounting courses (BUS 241-242) or (BUS 210-248).

·         Restrictions on elective transfer hours:

o        Developmental, remedial, or technical courses will not transfer.

o        A maximum of one computer course may transfer: CIS 146 is highly recommended.

o        A maximum of four semester hours in physical education may transfer.

o        No transfer credit will be awarded for math courses below the state-approved core level of MATH 110 or MATH 112.

·         Only courses taught at the freshman and sophomore level at Auburn University may be elected. Courses approved in Area V in other majors may be consulted. Students may petition Auburn University to pre-approve courses selected under Area V that are not mentioned for this major under Area V (contact liberal@mail.auburn.edu).
