Foreign Language - Area V
AREA V: PRE-PROFESSIONAL
MAJOR AND ELECTIVE COURSES FOR FOREIGN
(19 Semester Hours)
The following guidelines and
restrictions apply to Auburn University B.A. degree programs in French,
French-International Trade, German, German-International Trade, Spanish, and
Spanish- International Trade: ·
No more than 19 hours may transfer in Area V for
these 120-degree hour programs. A total of 8 hours (more or less depending on
credits in the introductory and intermediate foreign language sequences) were
specified by the AGSC as required; the remaining 11 hours (or so) should be
used to complete Auburn requirements (see below) with the balance of hours,
if any, used as elective course work. ·
Courses recommended in Areas I - IV but not
taken should be completed as electives under Area V. For example: o
A course in the use of microcomputers is highly
recommended for language majors and required for International Trade majors:
CIS 146 is strongly recommended. o
SPH 107 Fundamentals of Public Speaking (3 SH)
is required. ·
International Trade majors (in French, German,
and Spanish) should complete a course in microeconomics (ECO 232), in
macroeconomics (ECO 231), and take two introductory accounting courses (BUS
241-242) or (BUS 210-248). ·
Restrictions on elective transfer hours: o
Developmental, remedial, or technical courses
will not transfer. o
A maximum of one computer course may transfer:
CIS 146 is highly recommended. o
A maximum of four semester hours in physical
education may transfer. o
No transfer credit will be awarded for math
courses below the state-approved core level of MATH 110 or MATH 112. ·
Only courses taught at the freshman and
sophomore level at
