Economics - Area V
AREA V: PRE-PROFESSIONAL MAJOR AND ELECTIVE COURSES FOR A MAJOR IN ECONOMICS (20 Semester Hours) The Department of Economics offers two undergraduate degrees in Economics: the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Economics and the Bachelor of Science in Economics. Both degrees require 123 semester hours. The maximum number of hours that the student may transfer is 61 semester hours. Students completing the STARS transfer guide for Economics should not take the second course in statistics. Bachelor of Science in Economics Students who plan to transfer into the Bachelor of Science in Economics program should take into consideration the following recommendations as they plan their course selection:
Transferring students completing the Bachelor of Science in Economics will be required to complete to a minor in some area outside of economics.

It is highly recommended that students select Ethics
(PHIL 206 Ethics and Society-- 3 SH or IDS 102 Ethics—3 SH) in Area II. ·
It is highly recommended that students complete Math 120
Calculus I (4 SH) prior to transferring.

is highly recommended that students complete BUS 271 Statistics I (3 SH) prior
to transferring to Auburn. Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Economics Students who plan to transfer into the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a major in Economics program should take into consideration the following recommendations as they plan their course selection: Recommendations: ·

Restrictions on elective transfer hours that apply to both economics programs. · Developmental, remedial, or technical courses will not transfer.
· No transfer credit will be awarded for math courses below the state approved core level of Math 110 or Math 112. Other Requirements: Students who started their (post-high school graduation) college career prior to Summer 2006 must maintain a cumulative Auburn GPA of 2.2 or higher in order to take business courses. Students who started their (post-high school graduation) career Summer 2006 or later must enter a College of Business ‘gate’ in order to declare their major and take upper-division business courses.
